SolarTherm in collaboration with the National Engineering Research and Development Centre of Sri Lanka (NERD) developed the first solar water heater in Sri Lanka in 1982. SolarTherm obtained pioneering status for solar water heating systems in Sri Lanka in 1991. SolarTherm was rewarded by energy globe country award twice for their projects in Sri Lanka at the award ceremonies held in the European Parliament
